We have been made aware that there was an attempted abduction of a young person in Portishead over the weekend. Police are investigating a possible male driving a white van. Unfortunately, we cannot give any further details as it is currently under police investigation.
Following communication with the police, can we ask that you discuss the risks of ‘Stranger Danger’ with your child/children.
It is recommended that children are not out alone late at night, that they stay in groups of three or more should they be out at night for any reason. Should anyone approach them acting suspiciously, they should run away and be loud enough for others to hear them. They should then call the police or at least get home as quickly as possible and ask parents to call the police.
