Weekly Update 12.3.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find weekly updates and reminders below:

Thank you

We would like to thank you for your support this week and for following our safety procedures on and around the school site. The children have settled back into school really well and we are so pleased to have everyone back.

Please continue to follow the instructions on site to allow our staff and children to keep each other safe.

Social Distancing Reminder and use of bikes/scooters

Whilst we are keen to encourage the benefits of healthy exercise for children on scooters, bikes etc., please remember that these should not be ridden on the school site.  Also, with increased number of pedestrians using Down Road, can we remind parents of children on scooters etc. to be kind, courteous and respectful of social distancing and those who are with very young children, who may be walking at a slower pace.  Thank you.

Chromebooks/Laptops on loan

Please continue to return any laptops/Chromebooks that were borrowed to support with remote learning in a labelled plastic bag with your child’s name and class. These can be left in the office foyer/lobby.

School lunches

Please remember to order your child’s lunch on Aspens by 5:00pm the evening before.   This will help the kitchen know numbers in advance because the meals are all being individually bagged up and sent over to class.  This is a rotating 3 week menu and next week (starting Monday 15th March) will be week 2.

Red Nose Day – Friday 19th March

Comic Relief/Red Nose Day is on Friday 19th March.   Donations can be made through the ParentPay donation page.  Just follow the link for your school as below.  Online donation is preferred instead of cash, but cash will also be accepted.

Lateral Flow Test Kits

The government has announced that any adults in a household that has school-aged children are now able to get lateral flow test kits to test themselves for coronavirus twice a week, even if they have no symptoms. School staff have been doing this for several weeks now. The aim is to identify asymptomatic cases and thereby avoid inadvertently spreading the virus.

Please note, they are not insisting that primary aged children are tested.

The latest guidance is here:

“Undertaking regular, rapid coronavirus (COVID-19) testing helps reduce transmission of the virus. Parents and other adults in households with children at school or college, who do not have symptoms, can now access regular, rapid coronavirus (COVID-19) testing. This includes childcare and support bubbles.

Tests are fast, easy and completely free. There are different ways for a household, childcare or support bubble to collect their test to take at home, twice-weekly:

·       through your employer, if they offer testing to employees·       by collecting a home test kit from a local test site – anyone aged 18 or over can collect 2 packs of 7 tests·       by ordering a home test kit online – please do not order online if you can access testing through other routes, this frees up home delivery for those who need it most

If you have any queries about the tests, and you live in England, please call 119 (free from mobiles and landlines). Lines are open every day from 7am to 11pm.

Children of primary school age (and below) without symptoms are not being asked to take a test.

Testing is voluntary, but strongly recommended to all who are eligible. Alongside the vaccine, washing hands, wearing face coverings, and maintaining social distancing, rapid testing plays a vital role in reducing transmission rates. Getting into the habit of regular testing as part of our everyday lives will help us all to play our part and do what we can to protect each other.”

We hope that this is helpful.

Again, a big welcome back to everyone and we hope you all have a great weekend.

Kind regards

School Office
