Message from the Friends

Dear All,

We are delighted to let you know that the Climbing Wall is able to return to the Juniors on 24 & 25 June during the school day.

We offer a fully supervised climb to all High Down Junior School children for a minimum payment of £5 and hopefully some extra sponsorship as well…

The children will be taken to the wall during the day in their class groups, with those that do not want to take part being able to watch and cheer their classmates on.  Unfortunately we were unable to hold this event last year but the older children within the junior school will be able to tell you that one of the best bits is when the staff have a go!

VerticalXtreme are running the event and they have a large amount of experience.  Their website: https://www.verticalxtreme.co.uk/ has further information & Covid risk assessments for you to view.

The Climbing Wall Event has been added to ParentPay – with the ‘consent to climb’ box listed as well.  We ask for a minimum of a £5 donation so that your child can climb.  We cannot stress the importance of ticking the consent box enough,  if it is not completed your child will not be allowed to climb on the day.

Register your donation and complete the consent box on ParentPay by 18 June

Additional Sponsorship can be added to your ParentPay donation as above or cash handed in a sealed envelope to your class teacher by your child by 25 June

The sponsorship form is included as an attachment to this email.

As this is the second year we won’t be able to run our Summer Fair, and being also unable to run our Christmas Fair (our most profitable fundraisers) in addition to other events, please could we ask that you do consider how much you would normally have spent at these events and donate in that spirit. The FHDJS are still needed to fund events and items for the school (most recently homework books, reading books, Christmas and Easter surprises for all children, the library and some special surprises for the Year 6 Leavers and whole school at the end of the year). Please do keep in mind that we have one more summer ‘FUNdraiser’ up our sleeves that we will be telling you about very soon, the minimum donation for which will be £7.

The climbing wall has been a brilliant fundraising activity for the FHDJS in the past and something that the children really enjoy.   Good luck with raising your sponsorship and thank you for your support.
