Weekly Update – 21st October

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find this weeks updates and reminders below:

INSET day-Monday 1st November

A reminder that children will return to school after half term on Tuesday 2nd November. During the INSET, our staff will be attending LSP wide training to support our work on Pedagogy and Curriculum Development.

School Lunches

A request to please cancel your child’s lunch if they are absent from School, particularly if they are isolating and off for a period of time.  This will help the Kitchen to manage the number of meals needed and not result in any waste.   If it is after 5:00pm and you are unable to cancel or amend then please e-mail Lisa on office@highdownschools.org who can do this first thing in the morning.

Flu immunisation rollout

The Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Mass Vaccination Programme has asked us to share an update with you on the annual flu immunisation roll-out as below:

Thank you for your patience in waiting for details for this year’s flu immunisation programme. As you are aware, we were asked by NHS England to roll out the national COVID-19 vaccination programme for 12-15-year-olds in secondary schools from mid-September which meant a change to our planned timings for the Primary School Flu programme.

We are confident that all 140,000 children in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire will have been offered their flu vaccination by the end of January, which is the national target completion date. This means we are scheduling visits to primary schools from our teams from November through to 31 January recognising the need to accommodate school Christmas activities.

If your child is at higher risk from flu because of an underlying medical condition, they can have their flu vaccination at their GP practice. Parents/carers should contact their GP practiceto book an appointment.

The schedule of visits will be shared after half-term and we will be sharing with you the onlineconsent form.
