Weekly Update – 23.9.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find this weeks updates and reminders below:

Covid Information

We now have 2 children in the Junior School, 1 Infant child and 1 member of staff with confirmed cases of Covid 19. As the school is no longer in charge of Test and Trace we have not been involved in discussing these cases or deciding who should be informed. Test and Trace will contact any close contacts and they will be advised to take a PCR test. These children (if they have no symptoms themselves) can come to school whilst awaiting their PCR results.

We know that you may find this concerning, as this is a very different approach from last year, however we have now entered a phase of living with this virus.  Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

All classes remain open and our current risk assessment remains in place. We will continue to be in touch with Public Health and will be guided by them for any future developments or alterations to our policy.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) or tests positive for COVID-19

Symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are a new, continuous cough, or a high temperature, or a loss of, or change in, their normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia).

If your child develops symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), they should get a PCR test and remain at home at least until the result is known and they are fever free (without medication) for at least 24 hours.

  • If negative, your child can end self-isolation;
  • If positive, your child should isolate until at least 10 days after their symptoms appeared.

If the PCR test is inconclusive then please take another test and do not return until the test is either negative or 10 days have elapsed.

If you are using Calpol to reduce your child’s temperature a PCR test still needs to be taken.

If your child has a positive test result, but does not have symptoms, they should stay at home and self-isolate for 10 days from the date the positive test was taken. This isolation period will be extended if they go on to develop symptoms by counting 10 full days from the day following their symptom onset. Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for a PCR test and this can be arranged via https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test  or by calling 119.

How to stop coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with coronavirus (COVID-19):

·     get vaccinated

·     wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day

·     cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

·     put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

·     meet people outside and avoid crowded areas

·     open doors and windows to let in fresh air if meeting people inside

·     wear a face covering when it’s hard to stay away from other people – particularly indoors or in crowded places

Reporting absences

Absences must be reported by phoning the school on 01275 843969 by 10:00am each day.  Please select the appropriate option to report absence and then leave your message.   Please be as specific as you can regarding the reason.  Obviously knowing the reason for all absences in the current climate is paramount.

Nuts in School

Please could you ensure that your child’s lunchbox does not contain nuts or nut-related products, as we have children and staff at school with severe allergies.

Menu for School Census Day – Thursday 7th October

Thursday 7th October is our school census day and we will be awarded part of our funding based on how many of our Infant pupils book a school meal that day. We would therefore ask all parents/carers of Infant pupils to book them a free meal for that day. Our school caters have devised a tasty Italian menu including pizza or lasagne, which is attached.

nb. If you have already booked a meal on 7th October (Infants or Juniors) you may need to rebook as the menu has changed.
