Allergy/Special diets
Thank you to all those who have completed and returned a new Allergy/Special Diets form. The Kitchen need one to be completed every School year, therefore if your child has an allergy or a special diet is needed, then please complete a form and return to the School office. A form is attached now and we also have paper copies in the lobby outside main reception. Thank you.
Spot Welder Needed
We have some benches with aluminium frames which need some spot welding repairs. If there is a welder who would be interested in quoting for this job please could you contact the school office.
Access to School Buildings
Please can we ask that parents and carers do not enter the school buildings at pick up or drop off time unless invited to do so by staff. If you have a query please make your way to the main entrance and the school reception desk where we will be happy to help.
Administrators for Class WhatsApp/Facebook Groups
If you are the admin for your child’s class communication group(s), please could you let the school office know so that we can keep an up to date list. On occasion, we may ask if you would mind pushing out urgent information quickly via your group.
Nasal Flu Immunisations
Children in Reception to Year 11 are being offered flu vaccinations this winter to help protect them from flu and serious complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia. Vaccinating your child will also help protect you, your family and friends. The flu vaccine is administered using a nasal spray, this vaccine is free and painless, please ensure you complete your consent form at
If your child is unable to receive the nasal flu vaccine, community catch-up clinics will be available, please contact sirona.sch-imms@nhs.net or 0300 1245515 for more information.
School Census Menu
A reminder that next Thursday 5th October is School Census day, so please remember to order your child’s lunch on Aspens. The menu for that day is attached and available to order on the Aspens website.

Consent for Processing Personal Data
We use consent as our basis to process your child’s personal data in certain circumstances. Please note that there are certain activities in which we do not use consent as the basis for processing your child’s data. These are described in our Privacy Notices which can be found on our website https://highdownschools.co.uk/our-school/privacy-notices/ and which are available in hard copy from the school office.
Please also note:
Unless you have given your express consent, we will never put a child’s full name alongside any published image
Videos may be taken of lessons to support staff development: these may be seen by other teachers in school for staff training
We may also take photos/video of your child for identification purposes, and for evidencing their educational development. Such data will sit on their file and not be shared unless the law requires us to do so, or you have given your specific consent
Parents/carers are welcome to take videos and photos of their children at school events for their own personal use. However, to respect everyone’s privacy rights and in some cases protection, these images should not be published/made publicly available on social networking sites, nor should parents/carers comment on any activities involving other pupils in the images/footage
Websites and social media can be viewed throughout the world and not just in the United Kingdom, where UK law applies. When images are posted on the internet, it is not possible to prevent others from reposting them
Additional and specific consent for use by external agencies/companies may be sought
We will be updating consents by way of a short form later this term. Please be aware that you can withdraw consent at any time.

School Office
The School Office is open from 8:30am – 3:45pm. If you ring after 3:45pm then please leave a message which will be picked up the next morning. We do get very busy, particularly at School drop off and pick up, so if we don’t answer your call, please leave a message or e-mail us and we will get back to you as soon as we can. You can e-mail us on office@highdownschools.org.
Please always confirm your child’s name and class in any message or e-mail.
If you would like to come to the School Office, please buzz at the pedestrian gate and come to the hatch in the lobby outside main reception.
Reporting absences
Absences must be reported by phoning the school on 01275 843969 by 10:00am each day.
*Please do not e-mail absences because the e-mail may not be seen until later in the day, by which time the absence will have been marked as unauthorised.
