Please find the weekly updates below along with useful reminders for next week:
Learning mentors
High Down Schools have Learning Mentors whose aims are to provide a support service to individual and groups of children to help them reach their full potential in school and to address issues which may affect their learning. Support might include:
Helping build self esteem
Helping to identify barriers to learning
Providing guidance
Liaising with families and staff
1:1 contact with identified children
Small group work
Referrals to young carers.
Our Learning Mentors are Caroline Battlebury (Full time Juniors) and Tracey Parkinson (PM Juniors and Thursday/Friday AM Infants).
School Dinners
As in our mail earlier this week, another plea to please order your child’s lunches on Aspens because the number of children having school dinners this week were way over what had been ordered on the system. We are keeping an eye on the situation and will have to consider what action can be taken if this does not improve eg. children who have ordered will be served first. Lunches can be ordered up to 9:30 that same morning and if you have any difficulties logging in or ordering meals, please see Lisa in Reception.
Chinese New Year Menu
Aspens are putting on a special Chinese New Year menu on Thursday 27th February. Details are attached. (If you had already booked a meal on that day you will need to rebook as when making the menu change Aspens cancelled all existing bookings).
News Coverage on Mobile Phone use
You may have seen in the press or on the local news this week some very positive articles about our policy on mobile phone use on the school grounds. Thank you for your continued support with this – we believe the benefits it brings in terms of safeguarding, health and safety and encouraging interaction and language development are significant.
Just a reminder that the School Disco is tomorrow (Friday 7th February) from 5.30 – 7.30pm in the Infant Hall. We’re still on the lookout for some children’s Raffle prizes so please check your cupboards and bring any to the next tomorrow (Friday) morning.
Year 2 Indian Puppet Show
A reminder that Payment and Parental consent are needed for the Indian Puppet Show on Monday 10th February. Please log onto Parentpay for this or alternatively let the School Reception know if you need a barcode letter to pay by cash using the paypoint facility.
Kitchen Vacancy
Aspens have a vacancy for a kitchen assistant here at High Down for 16.25 hours per week. If you would like further details, please contact jayne.parsons@aspens-services.com
Year 3 Swimming
Thank you to those parents that have kindly provided consent and payment for the transport for swimming lessons starting after half term. As a school we must have online parental consent before your child can attend swimming lessons.
If you have not already done so, please log onto parentpay to provide consent and payment as soon as possible. If you wish to pay by cash using the paypoint facility, please request a barcode letter from the School Reception.
