Please find this weeks weekly updates and reminders below:
Covid 19 guidance
Please be aware that, due to Covid 19, the classrooms will need to be kept ventilated despite the weather turning colder. It would be advisable for your children to wear a base layer (thermals) under their uniform and a fleece (any colour) or additional jumper. By having several layers they can adjust their clothing if the weather becomes warmer during the day.
Please also note that we no longer contact parents of children in a ‘bubble’ where a test is being taken. Obviously if the test is positive we will then inform you about closing the ‘bubble’ and the time remaining for you to self-isolate. The guidance to the school has changed since the letter sent in July where contact for all tests was mentioned. The reason for the change in guidance is:
With the large number of illnesses that have a temperature or cough related to them we have children and parents of children in all bubbles being tested on an almost weekly basis. We therefore all need to assume that testing is occurring frequently
Due to the number of asymptomatic cases both within children and adults we should always assume the potential of a child/adult in the bubble having the virus and act accordingly eg wearing masks and/or keeping a 2m distance if we are visiting anyone vulnerable and following social distancing and handwashing/hygiene procedures
Also many children are demonstrating different symptoms to adults and could have Covid without a test being administered because that symptom is not one of the main three symptoms.
Just a reminder to order your child’s meals on Aspens. The meals are made to order and sent over to class in named bags so it’s really important that the kitchen know the orders in advance. We did have a few spare meals yesterday so were able to give a meal to every child who needed one, but this may not always be the case.
* Also please only order the vegan meal if your child is vegan and you have already informed the kitchen of this.
We will be supporting the Royal British Legion by selling poppies within the class ‘bubbles’. We will be selling poppies on Monday 9th to Wednesday 11th November. If your child is interested in purchasing a poppy please send them in with some money for them to place in a designated pot in the classroom. Many thanks.
Children in need
We will also be supporting Children in Need which takes place on Friday 13th November. The children can come to school in non-school uniform and donations can be sent in to be placed in a designated pot in the classroom.
Please remember that the children’s nasal flu spray will be taking place on either Monday 9th or Tuesday 10th if you have returned your permission slip.
If you have not yet signed up to Sims ParentLite to access and update the data we hold on your child (see our message of 14th September), please contact the school office to request an invitation code.
As confirmed in our earlier e-mail today, absences must be reported by phoning the school on 01275 843969 and selecting the appropriate extension to leave your message. Please be as specific as you can regarding the reason for absence. Obviously knowing the reason for all absences in the current climate is paramount.
